The atmosphere at Gainbridge Fieldhouse was already electric as the Los Angeles Lakers secured a 137-130 road win, but the most intriguing figure wasn’t on the active roster.
Caitlin Clark, the 24-year-old face of the WNBA, spent the evening taking a different kind of shot.
Clad in a standard media vest and positioned among the professional press corps, Clark was commissioned by the Indiana Pacers as a special guest photographer for the night.
The two-time WNBA All-Star was spotted multiple times throughout the evening focusing her lens on Luka Doncic and LeBron James.
Following the final buzzer, Clark took to social media to tease her work, telling her millions of followers that she has some good stuff coming from her unique vantage point on the baseline.
Luka Doncic confused by Clark’s new role
While Clark was hard at work capturing the game’s pivotal moments, the man of the hour was initially oblivious to the superstar presence just feet away from him.
During his post-game media availability, a reporter asked Doncic if he had noticed Caitlin Clark, the photographer.
The question initially left the Slovenian star visibly bewildered, forcing a clarification that one of the world’s most famous athletes was actually the person snapping his picture.
Once the realization set in, Doncic made a major confession regarding his respect for Clark‘s impact on the sport.
“I’m a big fan for sure, I watch a lot of games,” Doncic admitted, acknowledging his genuine interest in the WNBA. “Definitely, her hooping is great to watch. For sure, gotta go to a game to see her.”
Doncic‘s admission of being an active viewer of Clark‘s games highlights a growing trend of mutual respect between the NBA and WNBA’s elite.
While he confessed to being completely unaware that she was the one behind the camera during his 43-point eruption, he emphasized that his admiration for her hooping remains a priority.
For the Lakers, the win moved them to 10-1 in their last 11 games, solidifying their status as a top-three seed in the Western Conference.
