Caitlin Clark issues courtside apology after sideline antics go viral: “I’m so sorry”

Caitlin Clark may be sidelined with a quad injury, but that hasn’t stopped her from keeping fans – and teammates – thoroughly entertained. Before Tuesday night’s win over the Washington Mystics, the Indiana Fever star accidentally caused a minor courtside commotion and immediately apologized with a sheepish grin.

During pregame intros at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Clark – clearly antsy from not being able to play – started bouncing a small rubber ball to pass the time.

But unlike her trademark precision with a basketball, this bounce didn’t go as planned. The ball took an unexpected wild hop and launched toward the crowd behind the Fever bench.

Social media loves Caitlin

No fans were harmed and no damage was done, but Clark instantly turned to the crowd with an embarrassed apology that won hearts instantly. The moment lit up social media.

“CC so funny,” one fan posted on X. Another joked, “She has more content while injured than some do all season.”

“She’s like a big kid I swear… I love it,” one user commented. Another added, “She looks like she’s crawling out of her skin. Can tell she’s dying to get back on the court.”

The Fever will still be without CC for a while

Clark, who was leading the WNBA in assists (9.3 per game) before the injury, is expected to be re-evaluated in about a week. Until then, the Fever – who snapped their three-game losing streak with an 85-76 win over Washington – will need more of the same magic from guards Kelsey Mitchell and Lexie Hull to stay competitive in the East.

As for Clark, fans are counting down the days until her return – both for her highlight-reel play and her now-infamous sideline shenanigans.
