Caitlin Clark is not satisfied with her best performance of the season: She acknowledges a weakness in her game

Caitlin Clark may have delivered her best performance of the season, but the Indiana Fever star isn’t letting that overshadow a glaring weakness she sees in her game. Despite putting up 24 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists in a much-needed win over the Dallas Wings, Clark took the postgame opportunity to reflect on her recent shooting struggles – a surprising admission from a player widely regarded as one of the WNBA’s most dynamic scorers.

“I feel like I’m still not shooting the ball the way I’m capable of,” Clark told reporters after the game.

“I’ve had some good games, but I want to be more consistent, especially from three. That’s a big part of who I am as a player.”

Clark‘s comments demonstrate the high standards she holds herself to, even as a rookie adjusting to the professional level. Her performance against Dallas showcased her ability to lead and adapt, but Clark emphasized that one good night doesn’t erase the work that still needs to be done.

Embracing growth amid high expectations

The former Iowa star has quickly become one of the most talked-about names in women’s basketball, and with that comes immense pressure.

Yet, Clark is embracing the challenge. Her honesty about her shooting slump is a testament to her competitive drive and self-awareness – qualities that have made her a leader on and off the court.

“My coaches and teammates trust me to take those shots, even if they’re not falling,” she added. “I’ve got to keep working and trust the process.”

With each game, Clark is learning how to adjust to WNBA defenses and the faster pace. Her court vision, passing, and fearlessness remain strong points, but she’s not satisfied until every part of her game meets her expectations. That hunger may be what ultimately sets her apart.
