Caitlin Clark grabs a towel and cleans the court, WNBA fans melt over her humility

When victory arrives for the Indiana Fever, or any team-everything feels lighter. Smiles return to players’ faces, and the atmosphere becomes more relaxed and joyful as they prepare for the next game. That’s exactly what happened to Caitlin Clark and her team. After a crucial win on Friday, July 11, against the Atlanta Dream, they were finally able to enjoy the moment again following a stretch of painful defeats and harsh criticism. Now the mood has changed, and the gloom that surrounded the team has lifted.

Although the game itself wasn’t one of Caitlin Clark’s most dazzling performances-at least not by the standards she’s set-the Indiana Fever star still played her role. However, she continued to struggle from beyond the arc, hitting just one of seven three-point attempts. With such low long-range accuracy, Clark will need to put in significant work during practice to get her shooting rhythm back.

A humble gesture from Caitlin Clark

One particular moment during the game stood out-not for points or assists, but for humility. Clark turned into a part-time member of the cleaning staff at Gainbridge Fieldhouse when she grabbed a towel and helped wipe a wet spot off the court.

In a video recorded by a fan in the stands-which quickly went viral, Clark is seen picking up a towel, walking over to the damp area, kneeling down, and cleaning the floor so that play could resume safely. Soon after, a facility staff member came over to complete the task she had started.

The simple but powerful gesture underscored her character: even as the team’s brightest star, she’s unafraid to take on a humble role when needed.

The Indiana Fever reaches a .500 record

With Friday’s win over the Atlanta Dream, the Fever improved to a 10-10 record for the season. They now look to close out a five-game home stand with momentum as they prepare to host the Dallas Wings this Sunday.

The goal is to maintain the winning rhythm they rediscovered Friday night. So far, the season has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows-something the team is eager to leave behind.

Consistency is now the target, and this victory could be a turning point.

Their win against Atlanta was significant, as the Dream holds second place in the Eastern Conference. With this result, the Fever narrowed the gap to just 3.5 games and now sit in third place.

Their next opponent, the Dallas Wings, appear to pose a less formidable challenge. Currently in last place in the Western Conference with a 6-15 record, they offer Indiana a prime opportunity to continue its upward trend.

If the Fever were searching for the perfect moment to steady the ship, that moment has arrived. They’re at home, facing one of the WNBA’s weakest teams, and a win seems firmly within reach.
