In a pivotal Game 4 of the WNBA semifinals, Caitlin Clark returned to the court to support the Indiana Fever, offering a very needed boost to teammates Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston, the starts that have been saving the day.

With the Fever’s playoff run on the line against the Las Vegas Aces, Clark’s return was crucial in taking some heat off the offense and offering veteran leadership from the stands.

Mitchell and Boston stepped up

With Clark’s absence, Mitchell is carrying the attacking force for the team, tending to have to deal with the aggressive defense strategiesthat try to isolate her. Stephanie White did not go unnoticed talking about Mitchell’s work, saying, “She’s not just scoring the basketball; she’s finding her teammates. She’s reading how defenses are covering her.” However, the lack of complementing playmaking had brought too much stress on Mitchell.

Boston, whose defensive reputation was well established, had also been giving a lot offensively, but needed help to keep challenging the Aces’ defense. The presence of Clark support freed Boston to do what she does best and added more strength to the team’s effort.

A superlative performance on Game 4

Fever’s win in Game 4 was a typical display of their power and resilience. Having Clark at the building, Mitchell and Boston were able to perform their roles better, which resulted in a vital win that took the series to Game 5.

With the Fever ready to head toward Game 5, the chemistry between Boston and Mitchell will be a huge factor. The two of them with Clark supporting from the stands, collectively desire to lead the team into their first WNBA Finals in years and become a legendary team for the franchise.

Despite Clark’s absence, the Fever have shown brilliant resilience. In Game 4, Kelsey Mitchell led the team with 25 points, while Aliyah Boston contributed 24 points and 14 rebounds, helping the Fever achieve a 90-83 victory.

Game 5 is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, with the Fever dreaming to extend their playoff run despite the challenges faced after Clark’s injury.
