Caitlin Clark continues to recover from an injury to her right groin, as the Indiana Fever hope to have the All-Star guard back in the court as soon as possible.
The former Iowa Hawkeyes baller underwent medical evaluations and luckily for her and the team, there were no additional injuries or damage.
However, there’s no timetable available for Clark‘s return, so fans around the country will have to wait a little longer in order to see the guard shine again. Currently, the team holds the sixth spot of the league, third on the East Conference, as the franchise hopes to make the playoffs and contend for the title.
Caitlin goes back to Iowa and makes young fans go wild
Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark came home to cut the ribbon on a brand-new Caitlin Clark Foundation multi-use court at McCombs Middle School. The full basketball court with a soccer goal in the back instantly became a community highlight.
Clark and her team handed out backpacks filled with school supplies, books, water bottles, and food. Kids were ecstatic, calling her better than Golden State Warriors iconic guard Stephen Curry and even Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James after getting their gifts and even fist bumps.
This is the second of four Des Moines schools to receive a Caitlin Clark Foundation court, and Clark’s local legacy keeps growing. Her work combines star power with heartfelt community support, giving Iowa kids a moment they will never forget.
Indiana wants to keep the winning ways
The Indiana Fever (14-12) will look to win a third straight game to close out July when they host the Phoenix Mercury (16-9) on Wednesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. They will not have Caitlin Clark suiting up but they have some players that can take the offensive load for them.
Indiana won 80-70 over Las Vegas last Thursday then beat the Sky 93-78 on the road in Chicago on Sunday. All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell has been on a tear this month for the Fever and dropped a season-high 35 points while going 12-for-19 from the field and 7-for-10 from 3-point range on Sunday.
Mitchell is averaging 22.2 points over 10 games in July, the second-highest scoring average in the WNBA this month. The Mercury have been one of the league’s top teams all season long. They scuffled recently, dropping three straight games before bouncing back with an 88-72 win on Sunday in Washington.
