Caitlin Clark gets serious about her expectations for the 2026 season

Looking ahead to the upcoming 2026 WNBA season, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever are ready to face whatever comes their way and prove that what happened in 2025 was not just a matter of luck.

It is worth recalling that they had several players injured toward the end of the regular season, and despite that, they were strong enough to secure a spot in the semifinals.

At that stage, many believed they would be swept by the Las Vegas Aces; however, they pushed the series to the limit and made things extremely difficult for the eventual champions.

During that final push toward the Finals, the Fever were without their biggest star, Caitlin Clark. She dealt with multiple groin injuries that limited her to just thirteen games throughout the year.

Now, things appear very different. They are seeking redemption with a fully healthy roster and a strong desire for revenge, hoping to earn the respect-and fear-of every opponent while delivering their best performances on the court.

Caitlin Clark wants to keep her key teammate, Kelsey Mitchell

Kelsey Mitchell became a crucial support for Clark during her injuries, which is why she is now the top priority for the Fever star and the entire organization during this expedited free agency period.

You know, our first priority is to sign Kelsey Mitchell back. She was first-team All-WNBA last year; she’s kind of my running mate in the backcourt. She makes it really easy for me.

Mitchell could land a max deal in this free agency window, potentially earning $1.4 million for a one-year contract. A longer-term agreement would depend on how the upcoming season unfolds, beginning on May 8.

However, the challenge is that Mitchell, Clark, and Aliyah Boston would account for 50 percent of the team’s salary cap in 2026. This could complicate negotiations with other players as the franchise looks to maintain a highly competitive roster.

I think we’re gonna be the favorite to win it all. I think it adds a little pressure, but that’s what you love about it. But we’ve got a great squad, great coach, great support staff. So, super excited.

Clark said regarding their championship aspirations.

The journey will begin very soon as they aim to reach the Finals. Still, the path will be anything but easy, as expectations continue to rise around a team eager to establish itself among the elite in the league.
