Caitlin Clark excites Indiana Fever fans with her return, showing progress on a very special day

Amid a injury-plagued season for the Indiana Fever, fans may be closer to seeing one of their stars back in action: Caitlin Clark.

The former Iowa player’s second year in the WNBA has been interrupted by injuries, including a strained left quadriceps that kept her out of action for five games and a persistent groin injury. Now, she could be closer to returning to the court.

The illusion grows in Indiana

With only 13 games played this year with Fever, CC could be removed from the injured list, which includes several of her teammates. Sophie Cunningham, Sydney Colson, and Aari McDonald are among those who will miss the rest of the season.

However, Clark could be closer to returning to the game after being seen participating in warm-ups and some non-contact drills with the team on Sunday.

Despite this, these exercises do not guarantee the 23-year-old star’s official return, according to Indy Star Fever reporter Chloe Peterson. In addition, the Fever’s shooting practice is included in the two-time All-Star’s return plan.

This was Caitlin’s first practice with the team since her injury and, of course, it excited Indiana fans.

“Hoping for a healthy comeback of CC!!” wrote one hopeful fan.

“So good to see her on the court! Progress in action!” said another.

“I have mixed feelings on this. Great to see her on the floor BUT I’m not prepared to see her get hurt again,” commented another user fearfully.

“Save her for the playoffs,” asked one fan.

“Hoping for 29th vs Sparks. Critical game. Only if she’s feeling up for it and ready,” said a fifth fan.

As if that weren’t enough, this development coincided with one of the most important anniversaries in her career. As @PolymarketHoops recalled, a year ago, CC became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach more than 500 points and more than 200 assists.

Although her coach, Stephanie White, has said she is hopeful that the 23-year-old point guard will return before the end of the season, her return is not confirmed.

Now, the team is preparing to face the Minnesota Lynx on Sunday, August 24, at the Target Center. Currently sixth in the WNBA standings with a 19-17 record, the Fever continues to fight to maintain and seal their playoff spot. Will Clark be ready? We’ll just have to wait and see.
