Another defeat for Indiana Fever saw the team drop from sixth to eighth place in the WNBA, after Golden State Valkyries beat Stephanie White’s team 75-63 at home.

The victory raised the Valkyries’ record to 21-18, while Indiana’s fell to 21-19. However, a curious reaction from Caitlin Clark stole the show.

A touching reunion

The two-time All-Star remains sidelined as she recovers from a persistent groin injury that has forced her to miss more games than she would like.

She watched the game against Golden State as just another fan, but she also took the opportunity to return to her roots by reuniting with her former Iowa teammates.

After the game, Clark met up with Kate Martin, who played for the Valkyries, while Gabbie Marshall and Jada Gyamfi were also in the crowd.

The four players were key to the team’s rise and helped Clark in her historic college career, as she became the leading scorer with 3,951 points in 139 games.

The careers of the four stars took different paths. Martin was surprised to hear her name called in the 2024 draft at No. 18 for the Las Vegas Aces, as she attended to accompany Clark and celebrate her first selection in Indiana. She then joined the Valkyries. Marshall decided not to pursue a professional career, while Gyamfi will return to the Hawkeyes this year for her senior year.

Meanwhile, Clark is struggling to recover from her injury and return to the court. Now, the Fever are preparing to play their last four games. On Tuesday, September 2, they will travel to PHX Arena to face the Phoenix Mercury. On Friday, September 5, they will host Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

On Sunday, September 7, they will face the Washington Mystics at CFG Bank Arena Baltimore, and finally, on Tuesday, September 9, they will face the Minnesota Lynx at home.
