Caitlin Clark calls Lexie Hull “reckless” for making her suffer for so long at Indiana Fever

Injuries were a defining theme for the Indiana Fever throughout their 2025 campaign, sidelining key contributors, including Caitlin Clark.

Despite the adversity, the team advanced to the WNBA semifinals, in part due to the unrelenting efforts of Lexie Hull.

Hull appeared in every game this season, becoming one of the few constants in a lineup frequently disrupted by injury. She played through pain in the postseason, most notably after suffering a back injury in Game 1 against the Las Vegas Aces, and continued to suit up in Games 2 and 3.

Her commitment on the court drew strong praise from Caitlin Clark, who spoke about Hull’s role in her end-of-season remarks.

“I think Lexi is obviously, as you guys know, one of my good friends. I don’t really have many bad things to say about her. But every team in this league should want a Lexi Hull-type of player on their team,” Clark said.

Hull’s gritty postseason could shape contract talks

“She turned into our third option offensively because we lost so many players… And I’m like, Lex, you just play reckless. I was holding my breath those last few games, but that literally just sums up the type of person she is. She’s selfless,” Clark added.

Prior to Clark‘s arrival, Hull had become a reliable starter in 2023. Though her role diminished early in 2024, she reclaimed her place amid an injury crisis. Beyond her scoring and hustle plays, she was often assigned to guard top perimeter threats. Her playoff performance included 82 points and a game-winning steal against the Atlanta Dream.

As the Fever enter the offseason, Hull will be a restricted free agent, alongside Kelsey Mitchell. With financial decisions looming, Indiana’s front office will need to assess whether Hull’s leadership and durability warrant a renewed deal.

“I’ve built a life here, and I love this franchise,” Hull said to the IndyStar. “I love the people, I love the fans, so we’ll see what comes.”
