Caitlin Clark boos Stephanie White after late timeout call against Chicago Sky

The Indiana Fever‘s dominant 92-70 win over the Chicago Sky on Saturday night brought more than just a rivalry victory – it also produced a lighthearted exchange between Caitlin Clark and head coach Stephanie White.

With just over three minutes left and Indiana holding a commanding 20-point lead, White called a timeout in the middle of a possession.

The whistle came just as Damiris Dantas was about to launch an uncontested three-pointer, prompting a playful reaction from the Fever bench.

Clark, who was sidelined with an injury, grinned and mockingly booed her coach’s decision. Her teammates joined in the laughter, and even White cracked a smile as she walked into the huddle to deliver her instructions.

Fever find joy despite injury setbacks

The scene captured the upbeat mood in the Fever camp, despite a recent run of bad news on the injury front. Indiana has lost Aari McDonald and Sydney Colson for the season, but the team showed little sign of being weighed down by those setbacks.

Without Clark and Chicago rookie Angel Reese on the floor, the game lacked two of the WNBA’s most talked-about young stars. Still, Indiana dictated the tempo from the start, building a big lead early and keeping the Sky at arm’s length throughout.

White’s decision to use a late timeout may have been aimed at reinforcing execution or testing a set play, but for Clark, it became a chance to share a joke with her coach. The relaxed atmosphere on the bench reflected a team that, for one night at least, could enjoy its basketball without the pressure of a close scoreline.

The win not only boosted the Fever‘s morale but also underscored the team’s ability to keep its chemistry strong in the face of adversity – even if the most memorable moment of the night came from a coach’s whistle rather than a game-winning shot.
