Every WNBA Draft brings new surprises, but without a doubt, the 2024 Draft was more than special: Caitlin Clark was the first overall pick by the Indiana Fever, and Angel Reese was the seventh overall pick by the Chicago Sky.
After completing their second year, the 23-year-old stars have established themselves as major figures in the league, but they were the subject of an inappropriate question that sparked controversy.
Clark and Reese were the topic of discussion
With a sporting rivalry that dates back to their college days, both have given fans a real show when their teams faced each other and even when they didn’t, attracting even more people to the sport.
The impact they have had on the league is undeniable, which is why they are often mentioned. However, on this occasion, the question did not revolve around their sporting careers.
Caleb Pressley, the host of Sundae Conversation, is often recognized for his interviews with random and strange questions to his guests, in order to joke around and make them laugh. Despite this, nothing went right when he mentioned Reese and Clark.
Karl-Anthony Towns, the New York Knicks center, was featured on the 30th episode of the show and answered several questions from Caleb. During the conversation, Pressley proposed a strange (and sexist) challenge: “Shirts and Skins,” where Towns had to choose which players would wear shirts and which would wear skins to differentiate the teams on the court.
Caleb gave him the choice between Caitlin and Angel, but KAT did not respond. Faced with silence, Pressley asked him if women could play this “game,” but again, Towns did not say a word, prompting Pressley to make a lewd joke.
Meanwhile, the former Iowa Hawkeye completed her second year in the league playing only 13 games in total, averaging 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists, and 1.6 steals before having to leave the court due to injuries to her quadriceps, ankle, and groin.
Reese, for her part, also closed out her second season with the Chicago Sky averaging 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.
Now, both will combine their talents at Luke University from December 12 to 14, as two of the 18 players called up for the U.S. Women’s National Team training camp.
