Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese powered the USA Women’s National Team to a statement victory on Sunday, leading a 101-46 rout of New Zealand in the 2026 FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournament. The win marks the Americans’ fourth consecutive victory as they remain perfect in the competition.

While New Zealand briefly held a 12-11 lead in the first quarter, Angel Reese immediately shifted the momentum. She finished the game with two steals, two blocks, and a staggering +27 plus-minus rating.

Reese sparked a decisive 16-0 run with a layup off the glass, establishing a dominant paint presence that defined the afternoon.

The U.S. offense relied heavily on its perimeter shooting, sinking 14 shots from behind the arc. Rhyne Howard provided the primary spark, shooting 6-of-10 from deep to finish with a game-high 18 points.

Clark takes control

The Americans shot an efficient 66.7% from the field overall, with Jackie Young, Kelsey Plum, and Paige Bueckers all contributing to a 54-18 halftime lead.

In the second half, Caitlin Clark took over the offensive duties. After New Zealand attempted a small resurgence in the third quarter, Clark exploded for six points in less than two minutes to reclaim total control.

She continued her aggressive play into the final frame, partnering with Kiki Iriafen to combine for 14 points in the fourth quarter alone.

The American defense remained relentless until the final buzzer, holding New Zealand to just seven points in the fourth quarter and forcing 12 turnovers throughout the contest.

Tournament outlook

The U.S. (4-0) will look to complete a perfect tournament run on March 17, when they face Spain at 5 p.m. ET. With Sunday’s victory, the Americans have officially solidified their status as the team to beat heading into the final day of qualifying action.
