Big blow for the Pistons, the current leaders of the Eastern Conference, who lose Cade Cunningham, their franchise player, to a mild lung collapse. He is expected to be out for “an extended period of time” and is unlikely to play again this season.
The Pistons guard was one of the players in the running for the MVP award, but if he does not play again this season, he will not be able to compete for individual awards or to be included in the best quintets as he will not reach the required figure of 65 games. So far, he has played 61 games with averages of 24.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 9.9 assists.
The point guard had to leave Tuesday’s game against the Wizards due to what his team described as back spasms. At the beginning of the game he went for a ball and then he was already seen limping before being substituted in the middle of the first quarter.
