The Milwaukee Bucks have reached an agreement to sign shooting guard Cam Thomas, who was without a team after being waived by the Brooklyn Nets last Thursday, ESPN reported on Sunday. Thomas is averaging 15.2 points per game this season, in which he has played just 24 games due to hamstring injury problems.
The 24-year-old shooting guard re-signed with the Nets last summer for one year and $6 million, but the team’s situation, in the midst of a rebuild, led them to try to trade him before the trade window closed last Thursday, according to national media.
Injuries have been a common occurrence in Thomas’ short career, as last season he played just 25 games in which he averaged 24 points and 3.8 assists per night.
The shooting guard adds scoring ability to a Bucks team that is the fourth-lowest scoring team in the league, and suffers especially when its star, Giannis Antetokounmpo, is not on the court.
The Greek, who will finally stay in Milwaukee at least until the end of the season, after sounding like one of the favorites to change teams in recent weeks, has been sidelined in recent games with a calf injury suffered on January 23 against the Denver Nuggets.
The Bucks are in 12th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 21 wins and 29 losses, two and a half games behind the 10th place that gives access to the ‘play-in’.
