The Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ victory over the Houston Texans was bittersweet for the Bucs, who on Tuesday received an update on the physical condition of their defensive lineman Calijah Kancey, who left the Week 2 game of the National Football League (NFL) after suffering a serious injury.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 20-19 comeback win over the Houston Texans was one of the most exciting matchups of the second week of the NFL. After a mostly quiet second half, the excitement ramped up towards the end of the final quarter, with a back-and-forth exchange between the home Texans and the visiting Buccaneers.

What happened to Tampa Bay DL Calijah Kancey?

The Buccaneers’ medical team diagnosed Kancey with a torn pectoral that will force him to miss the rest of the season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He is scheduled for surgery on Friday. The Bucs selected Kancey with the 19th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft

Although calf injuries have cost him playing time, he has been a starter when healthy since the beginning of his rookie year. Kancey is a big loss for the NFC South favorites, who could find themselves in the market for some depth on the defensive line.

Jets prepare QB Tyrod Taylor for game against Buccaneers

With quarterback Justin Fields in the NFL’s concussion protocol, the New York Jets are preparing for the possibility that Tyrod Taylor will be the starter Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Because of the uncertainty, the Jets will draw up plans for both quarterbacks, according to coach Aaron Glenn.

“If Justin can’t play, Tyrod would be the one,” Gleen said Monday morning. Fields was injured against the Buffalo Bills, when defensive end Joey Bosa beat rookie tight end Mason Taylor with an outside run and hit him from the front. The back of his helmet hit the turf and he left the game.
