Bruno Fernandes became Manchester United’s hero. On Matchday 30 of the Premier League, the Red Devils defeated Aston Villa 3-1 at home, but the midfielder stole the show at Old Trafford.
The 31-year-old star provided two assists to help the team secure the victory, thereby matching a historic record set by club icon Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the 53rd minute, Bruno delivered a perfect corner kick that Casemiro capitalized on, heading the ball into the opponent’s net to score the first goal of the match.
Ross Barkley quickly equalized in the 64th minute, but eight minutes later, Fernandes delivered a masterful pass to Matheus Cunha, who found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Emiliano ‘Dibu’ MartÃnez and scored the goal that put Manchester United up 2-1 in the 72nd minute. In the 82nd minute, substitute Benjamin Sesko sealed the 3-1 victory.
With these two assists, the midfielder now has 16 assists this 2025/26 Premier League season, making him the club’s all-time leader in assists in a single league campaign, according to Record. In addition, Bruno surpassed David Beckham’s historic record, who had 15 assists in the 1999-00 season during one of the club’s most successful periods.
And as if that weren’t enough, this season, Fernandes has contributed 26 points (7 goals + 16 assists) to the club through his goals and assists, matching Cristiano Ronaldo’s record from his first spell with the club, according to The Sun.
The 41-year-old Portuguese star also contributed 26 points (18 goals and six assists) to Man United before leaving for Real Madrid in the 2008-09 season, where he also won the Ballon d’Or, demonstrating the level of difficulty and success of ‘Bicho’s’ play. Now, Fernandes has already generated the same number of points as Ronaldo did in that historic season, with eight games still to play.
With 54 points and sitting in third place in the league standings, Bruno could continue to lead the league in assists and help the Red Devils reach the top.
