Bronny James’ offseason grind is turning heads: How Lakers youngster is preparing for next season

Bronny James‘ first year in the NBA was far from perfect, but the 20-year-old guard is already making waves with his offseason progress.

After a rocky rookie season split between the NBA and the G League, James is clearly focused on growth as he prepares for his sophomore campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers.

While he struggled to find consistent minutes on the Lakers’ main roster-averaging just 2.3 points in 27 games-James looked far more comfortable in the G League.

There, he put up a strong stat line of 18.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.6 steals across both regular season and tournament play. His standout moment in the NBA came during a matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks, where he notched 17 points, three rebounds, and five assists.

It was a glimpse of the potential many believe he can tap into with time and development.

This offseason, Bronny isn’t wasting a second. Instead of taking time off, he’s already locked in and working with high-level trainers to prepare for next season. A video posted by player development coach Chris Johnson on social media recently gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at Bronny’s training.

The footage featured intense cardio sessions and explosive dunks, showing clear improvements in both athleticism and finishing ability. It’s evident that he’s taking the offseason seriously-and fans are noticing.

Fans react as Bronny shows off new energy

Reactions to the training video poured in almost immediately, with fans expressing their excitement over Bronny’s progress. Comments ranged from “Big year on deck!” to “Bronny got bounce!”

Others noted how much his game has evolved since last season. One fan remarked, “Looks like a completely different player… he could be an asset for L.A.”

Beyond just the highlight dunks, Bronny’s focus appears to be on developing a more complete game. Reports suggest he’s been working on his shot, especially from long range, and refining his ball-handling skills in high-intensity drills.

His work ethic and attention to detail are drawing praise, even from critics who had doubts after his limited NBA impact.

What’s clear is that Bronny James is determined to carve out his own path in the league, separate from the legacy of his father, LeBron James. Whether or not he earns a bigger role in the Lakers’ rotation next season remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: he’ll be ready when the opportunity comes.

As the 2025-26 season approaches, Bronny’s dedication is hard to ignore. If his offseason work translates onto the court, Lakers fans may have a new reason to get excited.
