Broncos player asks Taylor Swift to feature him in a song after ‘humiliating’ Travis Kelce

The Denver Broncos sent a ripple through pop culture after their 22-19 upset of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Following one of the most surprising wins of the 2025 season, defensive back Jahdae Barron took a victory lap of his own, firing off a tongue-in-cheek jab at Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and by extension, global pop icon Taylor Swift.

After the final whistle, Barron posted on his Instagram story: “Tell Swift put me on a song right now.”

It was a bold and unexpected move, blending locker-room swagger with celebrity wit. The 23-year-old defensive standout earned the right to boast after holding his own against one of the NFL‘s greatest tight ends.

For much of the first half, Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph assigned Barron to Kelce in single coverage, a daunting task for any defender, let alone one giving up nearly 50 pounds to the seven-time All-Pro.

From defensive spotlight to social media spotlight

Barron‘s playful post referenced Swift‘s frequent lyrical nods to her relationship with Kelce. The singer has incorporated subtle references to the Chiefs star on her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, with songs like “Wood” and “The Fate of Ophelia” alluding to their romance and Kelce‘s high-profile podcast.

Barron‘s lighthearted jab effectively flipped the narrative, turning a high-stakes football matchup into a crossover pop-culture moment.

But beneath the humor was an impressive on-field performance that helped Denver notch one of its biggest wins of the year. Barron shadowed Kelce across the middle in multiple man-coverage sets, staying disciplined and physical without crossing the line. His coverage helped stall Kansas City‘s offense during a sluggish first half.

Kelce ultimately finished with nine receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown, but most of that production came after halftime. When Barron was his primary matchup, Kelce managed only two catches for 14 yards across six routes and three targets.

One sequence late in the second quarter stood out. On a second-and-15, Barron closed in on Kelce across the middle, broke up a potential catch, then popped up with a few choice words for the veteran tight end. The exchange became part of the game’s growing intensity and signaled that Denver was not backing down.
