Brock Purdy sent another message to his haters after signing a stunning contract with the San Francisco 49ers

One of the biggest stories of the NFL offseason was resolved when Brock Purdy, despite much criticism, became one of the league’s newest multimillionaires by signing a five-year, $256 million deal to remain the 49ers’ quarterback.

The criticism came after last season, when the team finished with a 6-11 record, last in the NFC West, and missed the playoffs-following a 2023 in which Purdy played a key role as the 49ers reached the Super Bowl but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Now, this contract is a big risk for the 49ers because if it works out, everything will be fine, but if not, it could mean the end for Kyle Shanahan as head coach and John Lynch as San Francisco’s general manager.

Brock Purdy sent a message to both fans and his haters

The Iowa State product was happy to sign the new deal before the next season starts and knows that the 49ers have done their part, so now it’s his turn to perform on the field and deliver results immediately.

“I have a lot of respect for everyone in this organization, from top to bottom,” Purdy told 49erswebzone.com. “I think they know who I am and what I’m about. And I don’t know if there was a narrative that Brock was going to take a pay cut because he’s a nice guy or something like that, but for me, I play in the NFL. There are 32 starting quarterbacks, and it’s not the easiest job in the world.”

Now Brock Purdy will have to replicate what he did in his first two years as the 49ers’ starter, when he had a 17-4 record and a National Conference title in 2023.

“And for me, with what I’ve done and everything, I can proudly say I’ve had success in this league and that I’m capable of leading an organization all the way to the end-the Super Bowl. I proved that.”

Purdy has completed 67.5% of his passes for 9,518 yards, with 64 touchdowns. Additionally, he has rushed for 393 yards and 13 touchdowns, showing versatility in his game. His passer rating is a solid 104.9.
