Brittany Mahomes has emerged as a powerful force in the growth of women’s professional soccer, significantly enhancing the value and visibility of the Kansas City Current as she leads them to a valuation of 275 million dollars along with the help of her husband.
The wife of the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs‘ Patrick has has independently built a business empire valued at $15 million as her portfolio includes Brittany Lynne Fitness, the 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, and a co-ownership stake in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team.
A former University of Texas soccer standout, the 29-year-old seized the opportunity to invest in women’s soccer when Kansas City was selected as an expansion market and she has become a key stakeholder in the reestablished club.
Working alongside Angie and Chris Long, the team rebranded as the Kansas City Current in 2021, reflecting a renewed vision for women’s soccer in the region – something it is evidently successful at fostering.
Under Brittany’s leadership and strategic vision, the franchise’s valuation has soared to an impressive $275 million, according to Forbes, placing them just behind Angel City FC by a small margin of five million dollars.
The organization reported $36 million in revenue last year and is projected to reach $45 million this year, underscoring its rapid financial growth as the Current’s investment in a new stadium and world-class training facilities is a testament to the passion for the sport.
The team is also backed up by the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, whose involvement amplifies the mission to make the Current the premier women’s soccer club in the United States.

Andy Reid has once again stated that Mahomes will play the entire first quarter in the Kansas City Chiefs’ preseason opener against the Arizona Cardinals, but history suggests otherwise.
Fans have grown accustomed to the 29-year-old making only a brief appearance before being pulled, regardless of preseason promises, to make sure the three-time Super Bowl champion and Super Bowl MVP avoids injury.
In previous openers, Mahomes has often played just a single drive, sometimes as few as four or five snaps, before yielding to backup quarterbacks. For 2025/26 the back-up is Gardner Minshew.
This cautious approach has been consistent since Pat became the starter and continued last year when the first-team offense played just six snaps. So, while Reid‘s statements generate preseason buzz, expectations remain low for extended Mahomes action.
For the Chiefs, preserving their franchise quarterback’s health far outweighs the value of additional preseason minutes, especially as they look to regain their status as Super Bowl champions following that defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in February.
They will open their campaign against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 5, heading to Brazil in South America as part of the NFL’s expansion plans around the globe.
