Long before Brittany Mahomes became a familiar figure on NFL sidelines, her name was etched into record books in East Texas, and that chapter of her story is now back in focus.

The former college soccer star is headed to the UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame, a recognition that has drawn praise from across the sports world and a proud response from the Mahomes family.

Brittany Mahomes, who co-owns the Kansas City Current and is married to Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was officially named to the University of Texas at Tyler Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

The honor recognizes her standout collegiate career and places her among a small group of athletes whose impact shaped the program’s history.

The news quickly circulated online, and one message stood out. Patrick Mahomes‘ father, Pat Mahomes, shared a congratulatory post that reflected both family pride and long held respect for Brittany‘s journey.

“Congrats to my daughter-in-law on the Hall. Well deserved, Britt,” Mahomes Sr wrote, a brief but pointed acknowledgment of work that predates her public profile.

Brittany Mahomes herself confirmed the honor quietly, reposting the announcement on social media without fanfare. For those who know her path, the understated response felt fitting.

A college career that still sets the standard

From 2013 to 2016 at the University of Texas at Tyler, Brittany Mahomes delivered one of the most productive careers the women’s soccer program has seen.

She finished her time ranked near the top of the school’s all time lists in points, goals, assists, and game winning goals, while appearing in 74 matches across four seasons.

Her senior year in 2016 remains the defining stretch. She set single season records with 40 points, 18 goals, and seven game winners, and tied the program mark with four separate matches featuring three goals.

Those performances not only powered UT Tyler during that season but established a benchmark future players continue to chase.

In a statement released by the university, Mahomes reflected on the significance of that period.

She said her time at UT Tyler played a major role in shaping her career and identity, and credited former coach Kelly Webb for providing belief and leadership that extended beyond the field.

“I’m honored to be inducted into the UT Tyler Athletics Hall of Fame. My time at UT Tyler played a huge role in shaping my life, career, and the person I am today,” Mahomes said.

“I’m especially grateful to Coach Webb. Her belief in me, leadership, and constant support had an incredible impact on my journey both on and off the field. UT Tyler will always hold a special place in my heart.”

Impact that extends well beyond college

After college, Mahomes briefly played professionally in Iceland before stepping away from the game in 2017. Her influence on soccer, however, only expanded.

She later became a founding co owner of the Kansas City Current, helping drive long term investment in the National Women’s Soccer League and playing a role in the development of the first stadium built specifically for a women’s professional soccer team.

Patrick Mahomes has spoken publicly about that influence at home as well, noting how Brittany‘s drive and ambition mirror his own. He has described her as someone who pushes him to be great while building a legacy that stands on its own.

The Hall of Fame induction, scheduled for March 28, 2026, alongside the 2016 UT Tyler softball national championship team, serves as a reminder that Brittany Mahomes‘ story did not begin with celebrity.

It began with consistency, leadership, and excellence in Tyler, Texas, a foundation that continues to resonate years later.
