Brian Schottenheimer wants no more distractions and will talk to Micah Parsons to put an end to his controversial situation

As the Dallas Cowboys prepare for what they hope is a breakthrough season, a storm is brewing around one of their most important players.

Micah Parsons, the All-Pro linebacker and face of the Cowboys defense, is still waiting for a long-term contract and his behavior during the team’s recent preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons is only adding fuel to the fire.

While the scoreboard ticked away and players fought for roster spots, Parsons was seen sprawled across a training table behind the Cowboys‘ bench.

Rather than standing alongside his teammates or offering encouragement, the defensive cornerstone looked detached, even disinterested. For a player whose energy usually drives the defense, the image felt jarring.

Schottenheimer plays it cool, but questions remain

When offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer addressed the media after the game, he tried to downplay the situation. He admitted he hadn’t noticed Parsons‘ posture during the game, saying his focus was elsewhere. But his brief comment still raised eyebrows.

“We’ll look at the film and we’ll talk to everybody involved, and we’ll have a great assessment of how we did both on and off the field,” Schottenheimer said.

While Schottenheimer didn’t sound alarmed, fans and analysts are wondering how long the Cowboys can keep brushing this tension aside.

Despite the awkward optics, Schottenheimer offered some reassurance. According to Tommy Yarrish, the OC made it clear he expects Parsons to be ready to go when Dallas faces the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. That assurance might calm nerves temporarily, but the sense of unease around the team’s most explosive defensive star remains.

A sideline gesture sparks more rumors

The speculation didn’t end with Parsons‘ body language. As he walked toward the locker room at AT&T Stadium, a bold Falcons fan shouted, “Come to the Falcons.” Parsons‘ reaction was subtle but powerful, as he flashed the “make a call” gesture with his hand.

While team owner Jerry Jones quickly shot down any talk of a possible trade, calling it “BS” during an appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show, not everyone in Parsons‘ inner circle is keeping quiet. Parsons‘ own brother has reportedly grown frustrated with the Cowboys dragging their feet on a contract extension, suggesting that the delay is wearing on the linebacker.
