TheNew York Giants are gearing up for the new season with hopes of raising their level and improving on last year’s performance. Their strong preseason, highlighted by two straight victories, has given fans reasons for optimism, especially with standout showings from players likeJaxson Dart, who has quickly made a strong impression.

Nevertheless, what looked like a brewing quarterback battle has now been settled. Head coach Brian Daboll confirmed that veteran Russell Wilson will be the Giants’ starting QB for Week 1 of the season, with Jaxson Dart positioned as the backup. This decision provides stability at the position while allowing Dart to keep developing behind an experienced leader.

One thing is certain: Russell Wilson is firmly in control of the Giants’ offense right now, directing every play and setting the tone. Still, the organization views Jaxson Dart as the future cornerstone of the franchise, a young talent they expect to build around in the coming years. What makes this dynamic even more intriguing is the sharp contrast in their playing styles, which could shape the team’s identity moving forward.

Contrasting styles: Russell Wilson vs. Jaxson Dart

In the opening preseason games, the Giants showcased two very different quarterbacks, with rookie Jaxson Dart earning his first snaps in the NFL. His debut came during the victory over the Jets at MetLife Stadium, marking an important step in his development.

That is something that Dan Duggan had analyzed and talked about it after the victory against the Jets, as the journalist of the Athletic have address on his X account a part of his thoughts of the differences between Wilson and Dart.

Duggan started wrote “Wilson, it was mostly under center, heavy personnel, play action. With Jaxson Dart, it was mostly shotgun, 11 personnel and no-huddle.” While adding a photro with a article of his in the New York Times.

Russell Wilson: the safe and experienced choice

Brian Daboll’s decision to name Russell Wilson as the Giants’ starting QB1 for Week 1 is rooted in keeping things steady and simple. Signed in the offseason, Wilson brings championship pedigree as a former Super Bowl winner, giving New York a proven leader under center. Still, it’s clear he faces a fierce challenger for the spot in rookie Jaxson Dart.

There has been plenty of debate over the QB1 role, with Jaxson Dart making a strong case through his performances. The rookie has impressed not only in preseason, where he helped lead the Giants to victories, but also in training camp, consistently turning heads with his poise and skill.

Russell Wilson has struggled to replicate the consistency that once made him a star with the Seattle Seahawks. His recent stints with the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers were marked by irregular performances, raising questions about whether he can rediscover his best form with the Giants.
