Brian Daboll aims for NFL comeback after Giants exit

Head coach Brian Daboll arrived to the New York Giants in 2022 and quickly made an impact, posting a 9-7-1 record in his first season while leading the team to the playoffs and securing its first postseason victory since Super Bowl XLVI. That performance earned him recognition not only within the organization but also across the NFL.

However, in this league success must be sustained in order to keep a job, and the story soon changed in New York. In 2023, the Giants finished with a losing record of 6-11, showing clear signs of regression. Even so, the team decided to remain patient, believing it was just one bad year, but the response was even worse in 2024. Following the departure of Saquon Barkley to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Giants closed the season with a disastrous 3-14 record.

Finally, during the 2025 season, Daboll was dismissed after a 2-8 start through the first ten weeks, proving that patience has its limits.

In total, Daboll coached the Giants for four seasons, compiling an overall record of 20 wins and 40 losses, with just one playoff victory. His tenure, which began with hope and promise, ended marked by inconsistency and the loss of key pieces.

What is Daboll’s future in the NFL?

Despite his turbulent exit from New York, Daboll remains an attractive name around the league, and there are already options for him to return to the sidelines in 2026 in an important role.

According to Adam Schefter (ESPN), “Daboll is expected to interview with the Eagles for their offensive coordinator vacancy.” In addition, Jordan Schultz reported: “Sources: The Eagles are interviewing former Giants HC Brian Daboll for their open OC position,” highlighting his connection with Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts.

But the Eagles are not the only team interested. Mike Garafolo (NFL Network) noted: “Remember he is a head coaching candidate for the Tennessee Titans, and you start to think about the potential pairing there with Cam Ward.” Daboll is also expected to meet with the Los Angeles Chargers to discuss their offensive coordinator position.

If Daboll ends up in Philadelphia, he would be reunited with Saquon Barkley, who helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl in 2024. “Philly could really pour some salt in the wound if Daboll is able to turn the team’s offense around in 2026.”

After several complicated years in New York, Brian Daboll could revitalize his NFL career, whether as an offensive coordinator in Philadelphia or Los Angeles, or even as a head coach in Tennessee.
