The New York Liberty and their fans are celebrating: Breanna Stewart is ready to return to the court.

The 30-year-old forward had missed the last 13 games due to a bone bruise in her right knee. However, the wait is over, and she will play in Monday night’s game against the Connecticut Sun at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Breanna’s return is celebrated by fans

With her return, the seven-time WNBA All-Star joins a long list of players returning from injuries that kept them out for at least five games this season.

One of the most recent was Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky, who returned just under a week ago after a long absence due to a back injury that caused her to miss seven games. In addition, Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier also returned to action yesterday after seven games out due to a right ankle problem.

Now, Breanna is ready to return to play, as confirmed by Myles Ehrlich of Winsidr: “Yeah, I’m going tonight. I just want to be back with my team, and I’ll try and help make things a little bit easier on all fronts, and know that this is important for our playoff push. I took the time I needed, and was on the training staff for the entire four weeks, but happy to be back,” said the two-time Most Valuable Player.

In addition, the team shared two photos of the forward on its official Instagram account with a suggestive caption: “Streets saying Stew York City is back in action tonight…” wrote the team alongside a sly emoji with a half-smile.

Of course, almost immediately, fans flocked to the comments section to express their joy at the news:

“Our salvation!” exclaimed one fan.

“Can we wrap your legs in bubble wrap before we put you out there though?? Prayers for everyone’s bones and ACLs!” wrote one user.

“Welcome back! Save us!” commented another.

“Yessss We Love Stew York. Welcome Backkk,” added another fan.

“There better be Stew York hats on all the seats tonight,” said a fifth fan.

Both fans and the team hope that Breanna’s return will bring a victory for the Liberty, who are down after two consecutive losses against the Sky and Atlanta Dream.

Additionally, when she suffered her injury against the Los Angeles Sparks at home on July 26, NY had a record of 17-7. Now, they have fallen to 22-15.

With her average of 18.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game this season, the Liberty could benefit from her help and try to break out of their bad streak.
