Mylik Birdsong, a professional boxer known as ‘King Mylik’ who had a pro record of 15-1-1 and was the reigning WBF (World Boxing Foundation) international welterweight champion, has died at the age of 31 after being shot on the streets of Los Angeles.
Birdsong became WBF champion after beating Jerry Bradford in March 2024, and was scheduled to fight on October 26 against Armenian Gor Yeritsyan at a Hollywood Fight Nights event.
US media reports that police suspect Birdsong was a member of the Black P-Stone gang in Los Angeles.

Authorities report that Mylik Birdsong was chased and shot from a car while he was standing next to his car with his girlfriend.
“A dark-colored SUV passed eastbound on 87th Street and fired at the victim. The victim ran to his residence when two suspects in the vehicle began chasing him while shooting at him,” a police spokesperson told KTLA, who reported that they confirmed Birdsong’s death at the hospital.
Mylik Birdsong was sued by Kamala Harris in 2010
In 2010 Mylik Birdsong was sued by then Attorney General Kamala Harris on charges of being an accessory to a robbery.
