Boban Marjanovi resurfaces on a rural farm, living in a “primitive state” and loving every minute of it

For a guy who once stood taller than most NBA backcourts combined, Boban Marjanovi is now making headlines for something completely different and oddly wholesome. Instead of flashing down the court or lighting up the scoreboard, the 7’4″ Serbian gentle giant is now drawing attention from a rural farm, far away from bright arenas, post-game interviews, or Hollywood cameos.

Fans were caught off guard when Boban posted a video that looked more like a scene from a documentary on slow living than anything related to professional basketball. Dressed down and dirt dusted, he was smiling from ear to ear as he drove a tractor through the countryside, joking that he was living in a “primitive state.” No glitz, no glam, just raw, earthy peace.

Boban’s “primitive” lifestyle on a farm

And yet, somehow, it felt like classic Boban. The same guy who gave out Chick-fil-A sandwiches to fans when a teammate missed both free throws. The same guy who played a hitman in John Wick 3 and still managed to be endearing. Even off the court and now off the grid Boban remains one of the most beloved personalities basketball has ever seen.

This wasn’t a one time stunt. The footage showed him genuinely enjoying the rural life. No stylists, no filters, just a towering man cracking jokes, waving at passing goats, and looking more relaxed than most of us on vacation. Teammates past and present chimed in with laughing emojis and heartfelt comments. “He really could live anywhere and be happy,” one fan wrote. “Boban just gets it.”

It’s easy to forget that behind all the charm is an impressive résumé. After dominating in Europe and earning MVP honors in Serbia, Boban made his NBA debut with the Spurs in 2015 at 27. He played for six NBA teams, including Detroit, the Clippers, and the Rockets. He never needed big minutes to make an impact averaging 5.6 points and 3.6 rebounds in under 9 minutes per game. His 31 point, 17 rebound explosion with the Mavericks in 2020 still lives rent free in fans’ minds.

Most recently, he played in Turkey for Fenerbahçe and then joined China’s Zhejiang Lions in early 2025. Now a free agent, Boban seems to be embracing a slower pace whether temporary or not, it’s a refreshing contrast to the breakneck speed of pro ball. And really, that’s the Boban effect. He shows us that joy doesn’t have to come from spotlight moments or stat sheets. Sometimes, it’s just you, a tractor, and an open field.

Boban Marjanovi continues to live life on his own terms and fans absolutely love him for it.
