The Toronto Blue Jays received some of the best possible news after their qualification for the 2025 World Series. Bo Bichette, their star shortstop, confirmed that he is ready to return after missing the last six weeks with a left knee injury.

The infielder’s return comes just in time, just days after the Blue Jays secured the American League Championship with a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Seattle Mariners in Game 7 at Rogers Centre.

Game 1 of the World Series, presented by Capital One, will be held this Friday at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) and will be broadcast on FOX, where Toronto will be looking for its first title since 1993.

“I’ll be ready”

“I’ll be ready. I don’t know how they’re using me, but I’ll be ready,” Bichette confidently stated in the locker room after the victory.

The player’s statement ignited excitement among fans and within the team. His return not only strengthens the roster, but also restores the defensive and offensive structure of a team that has relied on his leadership in pressure moments.

A comeback that changes everything

Bichette’s presence at shortstop means more than just a luxury reinforcement. During the regular season, the Dominican by Brazilian descent hit .311 with an OPS of .840, once again establishing himself as one of the most reliable pieces in the organization.

His return represents leadership, consistency and experience in a World Series where every detail can define history. Since his debut in 2019, Bichette has been the face of the new era of the Blue Jays alongside Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Cavan Biggio, a trio that symbolizes the rebirth of Canadian baseball.

Toronto kept its promise

During Bichette’s absence, the team used his eventual return as internal motivation. Several players, including Guerrero Jr, the newly named Championship Series MVP, admitted that one of the goals was to extend the season long enough to give their teammate time to return.

“We wanted to get here for everyone, but also for Bo,” Guerrero Jr. said after the seventh game. “Now that he’s back, we’re going for it all.”

With Bichette back, the Blue Jays not only get their starting shortstop back, but also one of the most influential emotional leaders in the clubhouse. His return, just before the start of the Fall Classic, could be the deciding factor for Toronto to break a 32-year drought and rewrite its name in baseball history.
