Bo Bichette could return to the Blue Jays for the Championship Series

After eliminating the New York Yankees with a 3-1 victory in the American League Division Series, the Toronto Blue Jays are preparing to fight for a ticket to the World Series. And they could do so with encouraging news: the return of their star Bo Bichette.

Optimism about his recovery

The shortstop has not played any games this postseason due to a knee injury, but is confident he will be ready for the American League Championship Series (ALCS).

“I’ve progressed a lot lately, so I’m optimistic about my chances,” Bichette told Sportsnet’s Blake Murphy. “I still have some hurdles to overcome, but I’m feeling better every day. I have to run a little faster, but I’m getting better.”

Bichette even accompanied the team in the series finale against the Yankees in New York, where he was seen jogging in the outfield, a positive sign in his recovery process.

A key reinforcement for Toronto

If the shortstop is able to be available, his presence would be a huge boost for Toronto’s offense, which already showed power by scoring 34 runs in the series against New York.

In the 2025 regular season, Bichette posted a .311 batting average, with 18 home runs and 94 RBIs in 139 games. He also led the team in batting average (among players with at least 110 plate appearances) and RBIs, adding 3.4 wins above replacement (WAR), the fourth highest on the Canadian team.

Toronto looks to continue its magical season

The Blue Jays had not reached a Championship Series since 2016, and now they are waiting to find out who their opponent will be, between the Seattle Mariners and the Detroit Tigers.

Whoever the opponent, Bichette’s possible return would give Toronto an emotional and competitive boost crucial to their World Series run.
