Bivol in search of redemption against Beterbiev

Before his highly anticipated rematch against Beterbiev on Saturday, February 22 at the Saudi Arabian circuit, Bivol gave an interview to the Daily Mail where he spoke about his training, what helps him prepare for his fights, among other things. The fighter is currently training in Turkey with his team less than a week before his fight in the Arab country.

“Undisputed”, is what can be read as soon as you enter his current temple, something that has helped him to motivate himself and his team for the long-awaited encounter with his compatriot. In the first fight, although Beterbiev confessed that he did not feel comfortable and could not demonstrate his best boxing, he ended up taking the fight after 12 rounds, with controversy over the judges’ decision, as many think that the victory was for Dmitry.

The fighter has always been known for his apparent calmness in any situation, and this was explained by himself in an interview: “I used to read psychology books to understand the mind. It helped me understand the thoughts I had during training and fights, and it’s something I focus on more now – having power over my thoughts,” Bivol confessed.

The mental aspect is one of the main things to take care of in your daily life, both before and after training or fighting. The years go by for everyone and the Russian is aware of this: “Over the years I have learned to enjoy what I do,”he said after admitting that what he has he has obtained through sacrifice and discipline.

This weekend he faces another knockout expert, but as we said before, this is not a problem for the Russian boxer, his style was defined by his father who always told him that boxing is based on defense and accuracy

Better judges who can be more objective

Gennady Mashianov, entrenador de Bivol a Daily Mail

Gennady Mashianov has been in Bivol’s corner since he was 17years old, no one knows him better than him in terms of boxing and he is confident that his pupil will win this time, but he is clear about what they need: “Better judges who can be more objective,” he said ironically after the controversy of the first fight.

What is clear is that Bivol is eager for revenge. Without much fanfare or bravado, the fighter will maintain his striking calm until the day of the fight, where, as always, he will give his all.
