Bills Josh Allen accomplished something that not even Tom Brady could do in his legendary career

Josh Allen is putting together another MVP season – but the one prize he wants most still awaits. Allen isn’t just defending his MVP crown this season – he’s strengthening his case to win it again.

The Buffalo Bills superstar is in the middle of another electric campaign, rewriting NFL record books seemingly every week and dragging Buffalo back into AFC contention with a surge that looks eerily similar to last year’s award-winning run.

And yet, as monumental as Allen‘s numbers are, Bills fans know the real question looming over this season: can he finally take down superstar Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs – and bring a Super Bowl to Buffalo? Until then, Allen is doing everything in his power to make 2025 unforgettable.

Record after record, Allen keeps elevating the standard

Allen‘s latest masterpiece came Sunday, when he erupted for six total touchdowns in a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It wasn’t just impressive – it was historic. The three-pass-touchdown, three-rush-touchdown combination cemented Allen as the only quarterback in NFL history with multiple games of 3+ passing TDs and 3+ rushing TDs.

Not Lamar Jackson. Not Cam Newton. Not Mahomes. Only Allen. He also passed Peyton Manning for the most total touchdowns before turning 30, now sitting at 290 and counting with several games to go before his birthday in May. Another milestone is waiting just around the corner. With one more rushing touchdown, Allen will pass Cam Newton (75) to own the most rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in NFL history – a record that once seemed untouchable.

“He likes running, he does,” head coach Sean McDermott joked. “Which you would think by now he’d be like, ‘No, I’m good.’ But he’s just so competitive, so tough.” Through 10 games, Allen leads the league with 10 rushing touchdowns and is pacing toward a career high.

Bills find ways to win, and Allene keeps delivering

Buffalo has won three of its last four, and during that stretch Allen has accounted for seven rushing touchdowns alone. Offensive coordinator Joe Brady has been clear all season: whatever works, Buffalo will lean on. Against Tampa Bay, that meant letting Allen cook.

While the Bills struggled on the ground – just 97 rushing yards to the Buccaneers‘ 202 – Allen torched the Tampa secondary for 317 passing yards while spreading the ball to a reshaped receiving corps. The breakout star of the afternoon was wide receiver Tyrell Shavers, who hauled in four catches for 90 yards, including a breathtaking 43-yard touchdown on a play where Allen could’ve run for the first down. Instead, he trusted his receiver.

“The ball finds those who work hard,” McDermott said. James Cook added versatility when the run game evaporated, catching all six of his targets for 66 receiving yards – including a 25-yard touchdown – while adding 48 tough rushing yards. This is the version of the Bills offense that terrifies opponents: unpredictable, explosive, and entirely dependent on Allen‘s brilliance.

Only one obstacle remains. As staggering as Allen’s numbers are, his legacy hinges on two missing achievements: beating Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in a playoff game. It’s about delivering Buffalo its first Super Bowl championship.
