Bills consider George Pickens to reignite excitement among their fans

George Pickensarrived to the Dallas Cowboys in 2025 after a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers that included third- and fifth-round draft picks, a move that was seen as a strategic gamble to strengthen the passing attack alongside CeeDee Lamb, creating a duo that promised to dismantle opposing defenses.

From the beginning, Pickens made it clear that his goal was not individual stardom but to establish a winning culture within the Texas franchise. “I’m happy to be here, trying to build a winning culture,” he said in his first statements while still getting used to being part of the Cowboys.

His impact was immediate. In his first season with Dallas, Pickens posted impressive numbers with 93 receptions, 1,429 yards, and 9 touchdowns, earning his first Pro Bowl nomination and second-team All-Pro recognition.

The receiver became a key piece in Dak Prescott’s offense. His sporting success brought with it a contractual dilemma: Pickens is finishing his rookie deal, and his next contract could surpass 100 million dollars, a figure that puts significant pressure on the Cowboys’ front office.

Buffalo Bills’ intentions and what a move would look like

While Dallas evaluates how to retain its star, the Buffalo Bills have emerged as the main candidate to secure his services through a lucrative contract after he has proven his talent.

According to various projections, Pickens could seek a contract worth 124 million dollars if he reaches free agency, a number that would place him among the highest-paid receivers in the NFL. For Buffalo, his position is extremely attractive because the team needs an elite receiver to accompany Josh Allen, who requires a key piece capable of turning his throws into touchdowns, an issue that has plagued the franchise in recent years.

But Dallas does not intend to let him go easily. The Cowboys could apply the franchise tag and negotiate a trade with the Bills involving the 26th pick of the upcoming draft and a third-round selection, although it remains to be seen whether Dallas’ financial maneuvering will allow them to present an offer strong enough to reduce Buffalo’s chances.

If Pickens were to join Allen, on paper they would create one of the most dangerous offenses in the league. However, one thing is what looks good on paper and another is the chemistry they could achieve in reality, on the field. Still, it would undoubtedly be a major addition to the Bills’ attack as they look to take full advantage of their quarterback’s prime.
