New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft is no stranger to life’s finer things, but even he was left speechless when he received a birthday gift so rare and luxurious that he couldn’t have secured it himself.
The now 84-year-old billionaire was surprised in 2021 with a custom-made baby blue Bentley Continental GT Speed Convertible, a gift from close friends Jay-Z and Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin.
Known for his deep ties in both sports and entertainment circles, Kraft has long been surrounded by high-powered friends.
But this gesture stood out-not just for its $240,000 price tag or the 650-horsepower engine under the hood-but for the sheer thoughtfulness and rarity of the gift.
A one-of-a-kind surprise for an NFL titan
The gift, which was arranged as a surprise for Kraft‘s 80th birthday, was delivered on a flatbed truck to his Hamptons residence.
Caught on video by rapper Meek Mill-another friend and co-conspirator in the surprise-Kraft‘s reaction said it all: visible shock and heartfelt gratitude.
“How the heck did you get it?” he asked, clearly stunned. Rubin simply replied, “We have resources.”
It wasn’t just about horsepower and style, though the Bentley certainly delivers both. With a twin-turbocharged 6-liter W12 engine, the car can go from 0 to 60 mph in just four seconds and tops out at over 200 mph.
For Kraft, who was later seen taking it for a spin during Rubin‘s star-studded 4th of July bash, the vehicle isn’t just transportation-it’s a symbol of lasting friendship and deep personal ties.
The car also came with a cheeky birthday card that read, “Happy 80th Birthday Robert Kraft… Except you look 40 and act 25.” That sentiment reflects the tight-knit and playful dynamic among Kraft and his inner circle.
Beyond flashy gifts and lavish parties, this group also shares a commitment to social impact. All of them-including Jay-Z, Rubin, and Meek Mill-are co-founders of the REFORM Alliance, an organization dedicated to criminal justice reform.
Their friendship blossomed in part through Kraft‘s support of Meek Mill during his 2018 legal battles.
While Kraft now shifts his focus back to reviving the Patriots in the post-Tom Brady era-with new head coach Mike Vrabel at the helm-his memorable 80th birthday gift remains a shining reminder of enduring friendships in high places.
