Bill Belichick explained why Tom Brady made the mythical phrase “You Cannot Win the Game, Until You Keep from Losing” his own

So far, the controversies with his girlfriend Jordon Hudson, seem to have calmed down in Bill Belichick‘s life. Now the former head coach of the New England Patriots became news for his anecdotes during that time.

During his time on “The Pivot” with Ryan Clark, the current coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels revealed in his book “The Art of Winning” how he came up with the mythical phrase “You Cannot Win the Game, Until You Keep from Losing”.

It is no coincidence that he dedicated a part of his book to probably his greatest success, Tom Brady. And of course it was on purpose that his appearance is highlighted on page 199, in honor of his draft number.

It is on this page that Bill explains the origin of this sort of mantra that no one carried as loudly as the quarterback. And highlighting three traits, Belichick broke down Tom’s relationship to this words.

Tom Brady, the personalization of the phrase

Of course, one of the worst-case scenarios for a player at the QB position is long yardage. In this regard, as a first aspect, Bill explained:

“Tom did such a great job of not allowing negative plays to happen to our offense. No pre-snap penalties, no sacks, if the run didn’t look good, he would check it to the other side. But he kept us out of negative plays,” he revealed.

On the other hand, knowing how to read the field, your teammates and act quickly and nimbly is a quality that Brady had very sharp: “Number two, we can’t gain any yardage until to get rid of the ball. Give the ball to somebody else who can. And he did a great job of that. Tom really understood how Randy could be productive, how Julian can be productive, James White cam be productive. It’s like point guard,“ Belichick said.

Finally, his ability to make decisions almost instantly. The fact that Brady has rarely lost the ball is not a minor fact, but rather a response to his leadership and sharpness, or in Bill’s words: “he made great decisions under pressure and had a tremendous ability to see the field understand situational football, and make quick decisions under pressure“.

And while it is not surprising that after so many years and as many wins as losses together Bill mentioned Brady in his book, the idea to pay tribute to him was not his.

On this occasion, we have to give credit to his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson. The 24-year-old, who is keeping an eye on her partner’s professional life, was the one who mentioned the idea of dedicating his page to them when he was writing the acknowledgements and tributes “to Coach Parcells, Lawrence Taylor, Tom Brady and my father,” Bill confessed.

Undoubtedly, Bill’s words and Tom’s exploits will continue to be talked about.
