The saga of Aaron Rodgers and his potential move to the Pittsburgh Steelers shows no signs of ending. There was hope that during the “Big Night AHT” show hosted by Pat McAfee in Pittsburgh, Rodgers would appear and announce that he’d be playing for the Steelers. Fans waited for that moment, but it never came.
A couple of years ago, Rodgers was also at the center of a drawn-out drama when he left the Green Bay Packers. It wasn’t until just days before the 2023 Draft that he decided to play for the New York Jets. Now, it seems like the same story all over again – but time is running out for Rodgers, especially as Shedeur Sanders is slipping in the draft rankings. It wouldn’t be far-fetched for the Steelers to go after him.
The other Ben Roethlisberger theory
Aaron Rodgers didn’t show up at the Pat McAfee event, but two-time Super Bowl champion and Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger did. Fans felt a wave of nostalgia – not just because of the great memories of ‘Big Ben’, but also because since his departure, the Steelers have cycled through numerous quarterbacks.
Since Roethlisberger left, the Steelers have seen Mason Rudolph, Kenny Pickett, Russell Wilson, and Justin Fields take the reins. For now, they’ve brought Rudolph back – currently the team’s only quarterback.
A few days ago, Roethlisberger shared a theory that Rodgers was just using the Steelers as leverage to pressure the Minnesota Vikings into giving him a spot and a return to the NFC. But now, Roethlisberger has changed his mind and believes Rodgers will sign with the Steelers.
“I have a new theory. I think the Vikings are out. I used to think he was waiting because the Vikings were a more prepared team. I still believe he’s going to sign with the Steelers. I don’t think he’s ready to retire. I think he’s either waiting for Pat McAfee’s Wednesday night show or waiting for the draft to see if the Steelers pick a quarterback,” said Ben Roethlisberger on his Footbahlin podcast.
The Steelers have set their sights on Shedeur Sanders
Time is running out for Aaron Rodgers, because the Steelers – after still not reaching an agreement with the quarterback – have started to shift their attention to the former Colorado Buffaloes quarterback. Deion’s son is dropping in the draft rankings, and it’s no longer far-fetched that the Steelers could find him available at the 21st pick in the first round. Time is ticking for both sides.
