Benja Cremaschi is injured with Parma and worries the USMNT: Will he miss the FIFA World Cup?

With so little time before the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, players are at risk of missing out with virtually any injury, especially when the affected area is the knee. This is why the image of Benja Cremaschi leaving the field in tears has raised concern in the US national team camp.

What happened to Benja Cremaschi?

The match between Torino and Parma had just begun when the action that set off all the alarm bells took place. Just a few minutes after the start, Cremaschi tried to play first time with his left foot, but after contact with the ball, the player felt an immediate discomfort in his left leg and put his hand to the affected area. The midfielder called for medical assistance and remained on the pitch for several minutes.

The medical staff placed a bandage on the affected area and the player decided to try to continue in the game. However, as soon as he returned to the game, it was noticeable that he could not support his leg normally, which suggested that the problem could be more serious than it seemed at first.

According to the medical report from Parma, Cremaschi has a lateral meniscus injury in his left knee, which means his participation in the World Cup is practically ruled out

“Following an injury sustained in the match against Torino yesterday, Benjamin Cremaschi underwent a medical examination and orthopedic evaluation today, which revealed an injury to the lateral meniscus of his left knee,” Parma said on social media.

How long will Cremaschi be out?

In addition, it was added that his treatment and plan to return to the field will be evaluated and defined in the coming days, pending a surgical consultation. It is likely that Cremaschi will have to visit the operating room, and if he undergoes surgery, he would risk missing not only the World Cup but also the rest of the year.

Cremaschi’s absence would be another blow for the US national team, which recently also suffered the injury of full-back Sergino Dest. Now Mauricio Pochettino will have to adjust the squad to make up for the loss of the former Inter Miami youngster.
