After nine games of the NFL regular season, the Dallas Cowboys were playing awful football and their 3-5-1 record was a clear reflection of that.
Many fans of “America’s Team” were getting ready for yet another losing season for the Texas franchise.
But somehow, the Cowboys found a way to beat the Las Vegas Raiders 33-16, then beat the Super Bowl defending champions Philadelphia Eagles at home 24-21, and they put the cherry on top by beating the defending AFC champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-28. Talk about a turn around.
A team that’s ready to play anybody
Dallas’ head coach Brian Schottenheimer is not mincing words when it comes to his team’s potential to beat teams in the league. “We’ll play anybody, anywhere,” he said after beating Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs at home.
“I think you can see that by what we’ve done the last couple of weeks. The moment’s not too big for us, we just play. And then we know the fourth quarter’s going to come, and when the fourth quarter comes, we know we’re going to find a way to win. And I think you just keep doing that.”
It’s also important to mention that the Cowboys have beaten the last two teams to make the Super Bowl in less than a week. And one of them is the division rival Philadelphia Eagles, who managed to lose at home this Friday against the Chicago Bears.
A defense that can stop any team
The Dallas Cowboys‘ defense is just relentless and they have become a major problem for opponents, even if they don’t have All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons on their roster anymore. One can only imagine what this team would be if the former Penn State superstar would have stayed on the team.
Add that to an offense that has been a problem for defenses all year long and some of the best special teams players in the NFL, and you’ve finally got a complete team, a unit that is playing its best football in the last few days and just at the right time.
However, it’s the defense that has come together with a combination of new players like Quinnen Williams and Logan Wilson, and the return of others such as DeMarvion Overshown and Shavon Revel for the first time this year and then injured vets such as Malik Hooker and Donovon Wilson.
