Bayern questions Donnarumma after Musiala’s serious injury: “When he jumps on the leg…”

Bayern Munich left the Club World Cup in the most bitter way possible, with star Jamal Musiala seriously fractured in the defeat to PSG. The action with Gianluigi Donnarumma was fortuitous, but not without criticism from members of the Bavarian team.

One of the harshest was sporting director Max Eberl, who gave his impressions of the play to the press. “I don’t think he did it intentionally, but he wasn’t taking any precautions either. When I jump on the lower part of his leg while running, with 100 kilos of weight, there is a high risk that something will happen,” he explained.

When you jump on the lower leg [of Musiala] in a sprint with 100 kilos, there is a high risk that something will happen

“It’s tragic. Musiala is very depressed, very sad… We love him for his joy of playing, and now, with this setback, it is extremely difficult for him, but we are there for him as a family,” he said.

Neuer to Donnarumma: “Don’t you want to go and see him?”

In the case of Jamal, it is a situation in which the risk is assumed. A situation in which, in my opinion, you should not get involved. But hey, we wish him luck so that it is not so serious, although surely it will be. Throwing yourself there is risky. You assume the injury of the rival.

In addition, Neuer admitted that he went to Donnarumma, while the medical services were attending to Musiala on the pitch, to ask him to apologize. “I went up to him and said: ‘Don’t you want to go and see him? Jamal is lying there, he will probably stay in hospital, I think it is respectful to go and see him, wish him well and apologize. Then he went up to Jamal,” he explained to the German newspaper.

Kompany: “It makes my blood boil”

The Bayern coach also spoke about Musiala’s injury. “It doesn’t look good. Looking at the pictures you can see that he has done a lot of damage to his ankle, but I’m not going to make a diagnosis here,” he said.

“I’ve rarely been so angry at half-time, not against my players. I know there are much more important things in life, but for these guys it’s their life. Someone like Jamal lives for this. He’s just come back from a setback and now this happens to him. It makes you feel helpless. My blood is still boiling, not because of the result, but because someone who really enjoys the sport got injured,” he continued.

Luis Enrique defends his goalkeeper: “There is no intention”

Luis Enrique, PSG’s coach, had some nice words for Musiala after the match. “First of all, I would like to wish Musiala a speedy recovery from his injury. You could already see that it was a difficult play in which he was very unlucky because Gigi fell on top of him and he was injured, we wish him a speedy recovery.” The coach also defended his players: “There is no bad intention, we are not a violent team or one that commits fouls.”
