Barkley’s jaw-dropping hurdle still has Eagles fans, and legends, talking

Saquon Barkley’s 2024 season with the Philadelphia Eagles was nothing short of electrifying. After joining the team with high expectations, the former Giants star didn’t just meet the hype, he shattered it. The moment that has refused to fade from memory? His midseason acrobatic 180-degree reverse hurdle against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In a play that almost defies explanation, Barkley turned what could’ve been a routine gain into an unforgettable highlight. He didn’t just leap over a defender, he did it backwards. Somehow, in the midst of full-speed chaos, Barkley pulled off a reverse hurdle, landed on his feet, absorbed a hit, and held onto the ball.

Praise from a Philadelphia legend

Veteran Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham, who knows a thing or two about greatness on the field, recently joined Good Morning Football to break down the best plays of the year. Unsurprisingly, Barkley’s gravity-defying move topped the list.

“I have never seen anything like that, for real,” said Graham, visibly impressed. “Saquon, hey man, I can’t wait to see you this year because I know you have more in store.”

Graham also emphasized Barkley’s immediate impact within the locker room, pointing out the running back’s willingness to buy into the Eagles‘ culture from day one. “That’s all you really want in a teammate coming from somewhere else,” he added.

More than just a highlight reel

Barkley’s viral leap was only one piece of a monster season in which he surpassed 2,000 rushing yards, a mark that few thought possible when he arrived in Philly. The Eagles didn’t waste time locking him in for the future, signing him to a new deal earlier this offseason to ensure the superstar back remains in midnight green.

With the 2025 season approaching, Barkley’s combination of power, finesse, and pure athleticism has already made him a fan favorite, and a nightmare for opposing defenses. And if last year’s jaw-dropping feats were just the beginning, Eagles fans have plenty to be excited about.
