After ending her second year in the WNBA early by failing to qualify for the playoffs with the Chicago Sky, Angel Reese will make her film debut.
“A House of Dynamite,” which opens in theaters on October 10 and will be available on Netflix on October 24, will feature the two-time All-Star. And it could be her new profession.
Angel reveals her plans in acting
The 23-year-old forward averaged 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 1.5 steals in 30 games with the Sky in her second year with the team. However, the team coached by Tyler Marsh finished with a poor record of 10-34. Despite this, Reese seems to have found a new passion after participating in Kathryn Bigelow’s film.
After stating on her podcast “Unapologetically Angel” that although her role was small and took her a few days to shoot, the former LSU player also admitted that she had fun and wants to delve into the world of acting during her basketball career and after her retirement.
Thus, Angel will be able to add to her extensive resume that she is not only a WNBA star, model, businesswoman, podcast host, and influencer, but now also an actress:
“I want to get an acting coach,” she confessed to People at the film’s premiere during the New York Film Festival.
“I was talking to Common – he’s overseas right now shooting season 2 of ‘Silo’ – and he was telling me, ‘You got to hire an acting coach.’ So I’m going to hire an acting coach. I model already, so it’s like adding to the résumé. I’m young right now, so I’m going to do it while I’m young,” Reese admitted.
Now, Angel will have to wait until the start of the new WNBA season in May to return to the court, and although she will be featured in Unrivaled, the 23-year-old forward will be able to take advantage of the offseason to train as an actress. Will we see “Bayou Barbie” on the big screen again?
