Baker Mayfield Trolls Josh Allen, and the Bills QB fires right back

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are preparing for a tough road game in Buffalo after their loss to the New England Patriots. While the team works to regroup, Baker Mayfield has found a way to keep things light. Ahead of their matchup against the Buffalo Bills, the Buccaneers quarterback made headlines for his funny take on Josh Allen’s height.

“I have to walkie-talkie to him because he’s so damn tall,” Mayfield joked during a midweek press conference. “With Buffalo, it’s cold, it’s rainy, even though he’s 6-foot-10 and his hands are small, so he’d better wear gloves.”

Allen is actually listed at 6-foot-5, but that didn’t stop fans from laughing at Mayfield’s jab. The comment spread quickly across social media and sports outlets, showing once again that Mayfield knows how to mix humor with competitiveness.

Josh Allen’s comeback keeps the friendly rivalry going

When reporters told Josh Allen about Mayfield’s comment, the Bills quarterback didn’t hesitate to respond. “Baker wears two gloves golfing,” Allen said with a grin. “So, he’s that type of guy. I love the guy, he’s awesome.” (CBS Sports)

Their lighthearted exchange comes at an important moment for both teams. The Buccaneers and Bills are each looking to bounce back after disappointing losses. Tampa Bay’s offense stalled against New England, while Buffalo failed to score in the first half during its defeat in Miami.

Both teams are also fighting through injuries. The Bills will be without tight end Dalton Kincaid, who is sidelined with a hamstring issue. Mayfield continues to navigate a depleted offense as star receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin recover from injuries that have limited their availability.

Despite the setbacks, both teams remain within playoff range. The Bills trail the Patriots in the AFC East standings, while the Buccaneers hold a slim lead in the NFC South.

The jokes may have grabbed the headlines this week, but Sunday’s matchup at Highmark Stadium will be anything but lighthearted. With playoff implications and pride on the line, Mayfield and Allen will need more than humor to lead their teams back into winning form.
