It has been a stormy week for Julio Cesar Chavez. The great Mexican champion, who stepped into the ring in 115 professional fights and achieved 107 wins, two draws and six defeats, has received another tremendous blow in his life and one that is probably the strongest he has endured so far. The “Cesar del Boxeo” announced that his dog Camilo died after 17 years of providing him with companionship and great moments of joy for him and his family.
Julio Cesar Chavez, who is recovering after surgery for a urinary tract problem, shared with all his followers some photos with his dog, in addition to posting the following text
Today my Camilo left me, my most faithful friend who accompanied me for almost 17 years that I have been free of addictions. When I got home he was there and forgot about everyone else, he was always with me. I’m going to miss you every time I came home from a trip I would go to see you and give you your sausage, have a good trip friend.
Chavez received words of support from his friends
Many of the former boxer’s friends, such as the singer of Hombres G, David Summers, the boxer Barby Juarez, among many others, wrote messages of support and words of encouragement in the face of this difficult time that Chavez is going through. Even people like “Latinlover” wrote in his post: “My deepest condolences Julio! Believe me, I know what it feels like to lose your best friend”. The same goes for Yolanda Andrade, his backup partner and great friend in the battle to combat addictions.
Chavez’s wife, Myriam, said that the puppy was the ex-boxer’s adoration and talked a little about how the last few hours have been when they realized the death of the dog. “Camillo was three months old when Julio left the addiction clinic, I had given it to my daughter Nicole, but Julio came home and the puppy did not want to know anything about us,” she recalled and added that “they both adopted each other.” She explained that in the morning they saw him very badly and that was when Julio dared to carry him as if he were a little boy and began to say goodbye. “And it was his life partner.”
How is Julio Cesar Chavez’s recovery from his surgery going?
The boxing legend is in the post-operative recovery stage resting at home after surgery to remove a stone from his left kidney, which was infected, but the operation was a complete success and was performed by doctors Ivan Aguilar, Juan Carlos and Sergio Sandoval.
Regarding the subsequent treatment, J.C. Chavez’s wife indicated that the former champion will have to continue under medical supervision to prevent the appearance of new kidney problems. Although the family has not revealed the exact type of treatment he will undergo, it is known that the goal is to prevent a similar situation from recurring and to keep the former boxer’s physical condition under control.
