The halftime show provided by Bad Bunny at Super Bowl LX has many music exponents eager to apply for the show at the next edition. One of the bands that has raised its hand is the Backstreet Boys.
The boy band that caused a sensation in the 1990s, and is currently reviving that era with a renewed proposal respecting its original lineup, is added to the list of candidates who want to grace the NFL’s big game in 2027.
During a performance at the Sphere in Las Vegas, AJ McLean suggested that they should be the ones to take the music to the Super Bowl. The idea was cheered and applauded by the audience, who immediately spread the possibility on social networks so that more fans would support the initiative.

Bad memory? They rejected the 2001 show
For the XXXV edition held in Tampa, which Baltimore won 34-7 against the Giants, the Backstreet Boys were invited by the NFL to star in the halftime show, but the band refused. Aerosmith and Britney Spears were the ones who shone on stage.The refusal was because they preferred to sing the national anthem because they thought it would attract more than the show. That was their perception after Whitney Houston became one of the most listened to celebrities at the time after her rendition of the anthem.
Backstreet Boys will have to compete with Taylor Swift and BTS
After the overwhelming success of Bad Bunny’s show, the bar is high for the next Super Bowl. A show of that level is what the NFL will be looking for among the options of artists it is considering. There are two names that are strongly rumored, Taylor Swift and BTS.
In Swift’s case, there would be less chance because the time was now to take advantage of the media impact of her relationship with Travis Kelce. BTS is ahead in the preferences because it has a large global market and is the sensation of millions of people.
