As part of the growth of its international academies, the Argentine Football Association held an institutional and educational event in Miami that brought together more than 500 children. The event featured a special appearance by Javier Mascherano and Maxi Rodríguez, two historic figures from the Argentine national team.

The event was led by Leandro Petersen, Commercial and Marketing Director of the AFA, who highlighted the strategic importance of developing academies as part of the institution’s global expansion process and its consolidation in key markets such as the United States.

A model that transcends sports

During the event, the growth of the AFA’s 16 international soccer academies was highlighted. Designed to be comprehensive training centers for children and adolescents, these academies are based on Argentine soccer methodology and values such as leadership, teamwork, and discipline.

Over 500 children participated in training sessions, technical clinics, and recreational activities. They enjoyed a unique experience sharing the field with Mascherano and Maxi Rodríguez. The elite soccer players interacted with the young people and signed jerseys. They also shared their experiences.

During the event, Maxi Rodríguez spoke about the Legends Matches, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a connection with the public and representing the history of the Argentine national team on international stages. Mascherano reflected on his current role in youth training, emphasizing his responsibility to support the personal and professional growth of the next generation of soccer players.

Both players were receptive to the press and visibly moved by the public’s response. Hundreds of children chanted their names, took off their shoes to ask for autographs, and asked for pictures with their idols. Parents joined in the excitement as well, asking for autographs and photos. The day was a true celebration marked by closeness, joy, and the spirit of Argentine soccer.

Identity, education, and community

One of the most emotional moments was when the children received official diplomas bearing the images and signatures of the players. This generated a climate of enthusiasm and pride among the children and their families. Argentine music and an atmosphere reflecting the cultural identity of Argentine soccer abroad accompanied the day.

The event also recognized the efforts of the coaches and coordinators of the academies, who are responsible for implementing the AFA’s training methodology and DNA in each international location.

Sustained projection

Through initiatives like this, the AFA continues to strengthen its presence in the United States, consolidating a model that integrates strategic expansion, training development, and community building. This model projects the legacy of Argentine soccer to new generations around the world.
