Argentina troll Brazil on the pitch as they win in historic fashion

Argentina delivered a sensational performance on home soil, defeating archrivals Brazil 4-1 in a CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying match that made history. While the Albiceleste had already secured their ticket to the 2026 World Cup before kickoff due to other results, they celebrated in emphatic fashion by dismantling Brazil in Buenos Aires, sending a powerful message to their South American rivals.

The win marked a historic milestone, as Argentina became the first team ever to score four goals against Brazil in the history of World Cup Qualifying. It was also a fitting continuation of their dominance as reigning world champions as they looked even better than in their last game as they control the first place of the qualifiers.

Goals from Julián Álvarez, Enzo Fernández, Alexis Mac Allister, and substitute Giuliano Simeone showcased Argentina’s attacking prowess, while Matheus Cunha scored Brazil’s lone goal in a largely frustrating outing for the visitors that showed little on the road.

Having fun in front of the home crowd

The match wasn’t just about the result, it was about the moments that underlined Argentina’s confidence and flair. Goalkeeper Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez captured the crowd’s attention by playfully juggling the ball on his knees as Brazil looked on helplessly. Enzo Fernández added to the theatrics, reportedly calling Brazilian defender Leo Ortiz “dumb” during one of the exchanges, highlighting the fiery intensity of the rivalry.

This result is another feather in Argentina’s cap, solidifying their position at the top of the CONMEBOL standings and extending their unbeaten streak against Brazil to five matches since 2019. For Brazil, the loss exposed defensive frailties and raises questions about their readiness as they continue their own fight for World Cup qualification.

Argentina’s historic triumph not only underscores their dominance but also serves as a resounding reminder of why they remain one of the most formidable teams on the global stage. With their World Cup ticket punched and confidence at an all-time high, the Albiceleste are poised to defend their title in 2026 with flair and determination.
