Arch Manning sets his sights on greatness by studying NFL stars Josh Allen and Joe Burrow

As the countdown to the 2025 college football season continues, few players are generating more buzz than Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning, who has officially been handed the reins in Austin, and with them comes the weight of immense expectations.

For Manning, who carries the legendary last name and the hopes of a passionate fanbase, this season is more than just a stepping stone.

Once the top-ranked recruit in the 2023 class, Manning spent his first two seasons learning, developing, and biding his time. But now, the Longhorns are his team. With Quinn Ewers gone and a stacked roster behind him, Manning is poised to finally showcase why he was considered a generational quarterback talent.

To prepare for this moment, Manning is hitting the film room. The young quarterback recently shared that he’s been studying two of the NFL‘s most dynamic signal callers in Buffalo Bills star Josh Allen and Cincinnati Bengals leader Joe Burrow.

“I’m watching a lot of Josh Allen and Joe Burrow right now. Those are my guys. They’re dogs. I’ve watched some of their college film. They’re just good players, elite competitors, and fun to watch,” Manning said.

Modeling his mindset after proven NFL winners

It’s not hard to understand why Manning has zeroed in on Allen and Burrow. The two quarterbacks represent very different, yet equally effective, paths to stardom. Allen came out of a small school at Wyoming, constantly doubted until his physical tools and fierce will turned him into an MVP candidate.

Burrow, meanwhile, orchestrated perhaps the most dominant season in college football history at LSU, winning a national title and a Heisman Trophy before becoming the face of the Bengals franchise.

Their respective journeys and mindsets seem to resonate deeply with Manning. Much like Allen, Arch is trying to show he’s more than just potential and highlight clips. And like Burrow, he has the football IQ, accuracy, and calm demeanor that could allow him to dominate at the collegiate level.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian has also tailored the Longhorns’ offense to give Manning the freedom to grow. With elite weapons at wide receiver and one of the strongest offensive lines in the Big 12, the infrastructure is in place for Manning to thrive right away.
