Antonio Brown raises funds for father who dropped his kids off at McDonald’s for job interview and discovers story is a lie

Chris Louis, a 24-year-old father from Augusta, Georgia, gained widespread sympathy after his arrest for allegedly leaving his three children alone at a McDonald’s.

When reports surfaced that he had been attending a job interview at the time, many rallied behind him, believing he was just trying to provide for his family. However, new details from law enforcement suggest the initial story may not have been entirely accurate.

Arrest sparks public support

Louis was arrested on March 22 after deputies discovered his children-ages 10, 6, and 1-unattended for over an hour at a McDonald’s, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with deprivation of a minor, a misdemeanor.

As the story spread, public support for Louis grew. Many sympathized with his situation, arguing that he was only trying to secure work. Former NFL star Antonio Brown even started a GoFundMe campaign on Louis‘ behalf, raising more than 78,000 dollars.

“A dad just trying to find a way to make money for his family,” Brown wrote.

“I know he shouldn’t just leave his kids, but some people don’t have the means for babysitting.”

However, a police report contradicts the claim that Louis was in a job interview when his children were left alone. Investigators revealed that while Louis had applied for a job earlier that day, he was not actively interviewing when his kids were at McDonald’s.

According to police, Louis‘ 10-year-old daughter said that she, her siblings, and their father had walked to McDonald’s together before Louis left, telling them he would return shortly after delivering a backpack. She also stated that he frequently left them alone.

Further investigation led officers to a nearby inn where Louis had applied for a job. The manager confirmed that while he had submitted an application and participated in an informal discussion, there was no scheduled follow-up interview. Security footage reportedly showed Louis leaving the inn hours before his children were found alone.

After reviewing video evidence and witness statements, authorities concluded that Louis was not engaged in any job-related activities at the time. Instead, they said he had been walking between McDonald’s and an apartment complex.

What started as a story of a struggling father trying to support his children has now taken a more complicated turn.

While his case has sparked conversations about childcare challenges and economic struggles, the latest revelations raise further questions about his actions that day.
