Antonio Brown mocks Arch Manning after his debut against Ohio State and compares him to Kenny Pickett

Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning endured a rocky debut as the team’s full-time starter, which caught the attention-and mockery-of former NFL star Antonio Brown.

In the season opener against Ohio State, Manning completed just 17 of 30 passes for 170 yards, featuring one touchdown and one interception in a 14-7 defeat.

His shaky performance, heavily scrutinized and far below the expectations set by his storied surname, provided fodder for Brown‘s latest online trolling.

On social media, Brown seized the moment to take a jab at Manning‘s overhyped arrival in college football, comparing the $14 million NIL-valued Longhorns QB to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett-known for his inconsistent early-career performances.

Brown’s mockery echoed prior digs he had made toward Pickett, labeling his quarterback situation a “legitimate concern” and expressing little confidence in his ability to lead Pittsburgh’s offense.

Within hours, the internet was ablaze with criticism of Manning’s debut. Analysts like Shannon Sharpe called out the overwhelming “generational” hype placed on the young signal-caller, arguing that the reaction to his first game was disproportionate.

Meanwhile, major headlines speculated whether this was simply a developmental hiccup or indicative of deeper issues in Manning’s game

A comparison born of underperformance

Brown‘s barbed comparison to Pickett underscores a narrative of unmet expectations-two promising quarterbacks burdened by lofty projections, now under pressure to prove themselves.

Picking at the parallels, Brown highlighted that both athletes had failed to decisively quiet the doubters in their initial outings.

That said, the verdict on Arch Manning‘s long-term potential shouldn’t hinge on one bad game. History shows that early struggles do not necessarily forecast future outcomes – top recruits often stumble in their debuts before flourishing later.

For now, however, Brown‘s harsh online criticism and the ensuing comparisons to Pickett are part of the growing pains in Manning’s highly publicized transition to starting QB status.
