Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the All-Star Game, the 75th edition of which featured a format that pitted two teams from the United States against the rest of the world.
“We decided to compete today and we came out victorious,” Edwards said as he collected the award in front of a crowd that gave him a standing ovation at the Intuit Dome stadium in Inglewood, California.
The Wolves guard was part of the Star team, made up of Scottie Barnes, Devin Booker, Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, Chet Holmgren, Jalen Johnson and Tyrese Maxey.
The team that brought together young American NBA talentdefeated the Stars by 47-21, a team made up of legends such as LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard.
The clash was conceived as a kind of mini-World Cup, in which American pride measured its strength against international talent, an innovative initiative with which the NBA seeks to revive one of the franchise’s greatest financial assets.
